Windows - Contracting Services

Installing, maintaining or re-placing windows can be problematic, unless you know what you want; when you need to or how to go about it.

It is a growing consideration in older premises these days to increase day light by installing more windows and careful thought of how to illuminate an area where people work is becoming increasingly important.

As qualified specialists we have the technical support in addressing many issued surrounding this topic.

The design and material of your windows can contribute to the final outcome you are looking for. Your choice of style can be preferential; architectural or environmental. The choice of single glazed and double glazed units in UPVC or timber is a personal choice and one that we here at Decorfix can provide, manufacture and install.

The installation of doubled glazed units in UPVC frames to external walls is popular but in many buildings this is not an option or looks out of place, but by installing double glazed units in timber frames you can receive the same benefits of reducing draughts, condensation and loss of heat with the traditional or contemporary look that suits your building or surrounding environment.

Some internal areas may require glazed units that are fire rated. This can be achieved by the use of intumescent seals in conjunction with the correct type of glass.

The new Pyroshield 2 is a monolithic wired glass. It offers reliable, integrity only, fire-resistant glazing in a range of applications, including doors, screens and overhead glazing. It can also be used in a variety of internal and external applications for vision or privacy purposes.

Wired glass has a good track record in fire testing and offers exceptional value for money which is why it is still one of the most popular fire-resistant glass types.

Pyroshield™ 2 is available in clear and texture versions, for vision or privacy respectively:

Pyrostop is a tried and trusted protection against heat, flames and hot gases. The Pyrostop® range is a family of clear, laminated fully insulating fire and impact resistant glass that offers the highest levels of fire protection (Integrity and Insulation), maximising the available levels of natural light and visibility. Depending on the thickness, it provides impact protection up to Class 1 of BS EN 12600.

Pyrostop® is the product to use wherever a complete, physically robust fire protection shield is desired in combination with the high quality through vision and high quality natural lighting typical of normal glazing.

Pyrodur® is a tried and trusted protection against flames and hot gases. Using the same technology as Pyrostop®, Pyrodur® is ideal for use in fire doors and partitioning. It is a clear, laminated fire and impact resistant glass offering up to 60 minutes integrity, together with some heat insulation in suitable glazing systems. Depending on the thickness, it provides impact protection up to Class 1(B)1 of BS EN 12600.

In the event of fire Pyrodur® turns opaque providing both the integrity requirements of a barrier to hot gases and flames. As such, Pyrodur® complies with European and ISO test standards.

Optiphon™ is recommended for insulating building interiors against noise and has now become a major design criterion, due to the rapid increase in road and air traffic and the development of the urban motorways.

These and other sources of noise such as railways, discos and neighbours can cause people to experience inconvenience, annoyance, stress and even diagnosable illness. Glazing and windows can play an important part in reducing this noise. It can also provide privacy in applications such as offices, lecture theatres and hospitals.
